1986年イギリスのグループ、ザ・ソースがアメリカの歌手キャンディ・ステイトンをボーカルに迎えて発表した曲です。
発売後、何度もリミックス盤が発表されており、その度にイギリスのチャートにランクインしている人気曲です。1997年に発表した「Now Voyager Mix」の3位が最高順位だそうです。歌詞にも若干の変更がありますが、内容はほぼ同じです。

直訳すると「私は空に両手を投げ出したくなるような気分」ですが
「諦めたい」や「お手上げ」などの意味になります。
「count on ～」は「～を頼る」の意味ですが
同じ意味の「Depend on ～」が「依存」、
「Rely on ～」が「根拠」からくる意味なのに対し、
「Count on ～」は「期待」の意味になります。
「Lord」は「キリスト神」や「ご主人様」を意味します。
「God」は「唯一崇拝する神」や「絶対的な存在」の意味になります。）
