ボーカルのボノが酔っていたからと語っていました。）

歌詞は紆余曲折あって何度か書き直されたそうです。途中、ボノがスペイン語で書いたことから、その一部が最終的に残ったとか。
誰に向けて書いたのか考察が楽しい一曲です。個人的には自問自答と受け取っています。
