1983年にアメリカの歌手マイケル・ジャクソンが発表した曲です。
言わずと知れた名曲で、収録された同名タイトルのアルバムは世界で約1億枚売れたと言われています。その売り上げに貢献したのが、アメリカの映画監督ジョン・ランディスが手掛けたPV。ゾンビの振り付けは今でも世界中のダンサーが真似しています。
PV冒頭に表示されるマイケルからの言葉は、
「Due to my strong personal convictions, I wish to stress that this film in no way endorses a belief in the occult.／私個人の強い信念に基づき、この映像作品はいかなる形であれオカルトへの信仰を支持・推奨するものではないことを強く主張します。」
と言う、悪魔崇拝を否定する意味。「Thriller／スリラー」の免責事項として有名です。
