アメリカのソロ・プロジェクト歌手アウル・シティーと、カナダの歌手カーリー・レイ・ジェプセンがコラボして2012年に発売した曲です。これまで「ワンヒット・ワンダー／一発屋」のような印象を持たれていた両者ですが、その汚名を返上できるほど世界的にヒットしました。
評論家の間では「夏の賛歌」と称され、「今後の夏の定番曲になりそうだ」と高評価を受けました。プロデュースも担ったアウルは、カーリーとのコラボを「嬉しい偶然」と述べ、カーリーは初めて聞いた時から「ぜひ歌いたい」と思ったそうです。両者の前向きさが曲にもよく反映されています。
