1981年にアメリカのロックバンド、J・ガイルズ・バンドが発表した曲です。
ビルボードHOT100で1位を獲得した他、イギリスのチャートでも3位になるなど、世界中でヒットしました。
日本でもCMで使用されているので耳にしたことがある方も多いと思いますが、イントロしか知らないという方も、同じくらい多いと思います。

「homeroom／ホームルーム」は
学校で連絡事項を伝える時間の他に
その「クラス」そのものを指します。
「pulled me from my seat」は直訳すると
「僕を席から引っ張り出した」ですが
「感動のあまり思わず席から立ち上がらせた」の意味合いもあります。
「never cause」は「原因にはならない」などの意味で
「never cause my pain」で「私を決して傷つけない」や
「私に決して痛みを与えない」などの意味になります。）

（「girly／ガーリー」は「女の子らしい」などの意味ですが
「girly magazine」の場合は「水着」や「ヌード」のスラングとなり

「pages in-between／間に挟まれているページ」は
成人向け雑誌などにおいて「ヌードの見開きページ」を指します。）

（「My blood runs cold」は直訳すると「私の血が凍る」ですが
驚きや恐怖で「血の気が引く」や「背筋が凍る」
などを意味する慣用句です。）

「private／プライベート」は「私的な」や「個人の」などの意味で
「in private」で「二人きりで」などの意味になります。）
