1994年にアメリカのロックバンド、ボン・ジョヴィが発表した曲です。
ボン・ジョヴィの代表曲の1つとして、発売当時から現在に至るまで世界中で長く愛されている曲です。また、曲だけでなくMVもボーカル、ジョン・ボン・ジョヴィの見た目の良さから絶大な人気を得ています。
実はこの曲は、1993年公開の映画「Romeo Is Bleeding」の挿入歌として書き下ろされたものでした。しかしながら、曲を作ったジョンが映画の試写の段階で好印象を持てなかったことから、曲を渡すことを断ったそうです。歌詞には映画を彷彿させる個所もあります。
