1987年にアメリカの歌手ホイットニー・ヒューストンが発表した曲です。
発売当時、評論家からは賛否両論あったものの曲は世界中で大ヒット。グラミー賞も受賞し、ホイットニーを世界的歌手に押し上げた代表曲の一つになりました。
曲は後に再評価され、ローリング・ストーン誌やビルボードなどによる「最高の曲選」にも選ばれています。

「I wind up ～」は「最終的に～する羽目になる」や
「結局～になる」の意味。）
