1982年にアメリカのロックバンド、サバイバーがアメリカ映画「ロッキー3」の主題歌として書き下ろした曲です。
世界中で大ヒットしグラミー賞も受賞しました。
映画の監督兼主演のシルベスター・スタローンが、他のバンドから曲の使用を断られサバイバーに依頼。サバイバーは既に2枚のアルバムを発表していたものも売れず、会社から契約を切られる寸前だったそうです。

「street」は「通り」の他に「街」の意味もあります。
「Did my time」はやるべきことを「十分にやった」や
苦境を「耐え抜いた」などの意味。
「took my chances」は「一か八かやってみた」や
「可能性に賭けてみた」などの意味。
「When the distance」は「距離が～の時」の意味。
歌詞から「乗り越えた」の意味合いで訳しました。
「I’m back on my feet」は直訳すると
「私は再び自分の足の上にいる」ですが
自分の足で立っている様子を指し
「立ち直った」や「元気になった」などの意味になります。）

（「out on the street」は「通りに出て」や
「街頭で」などの意味。
「staying hungry」は「飢えたままでいる」を意味し

「take to the street」は「街中へ繰り出す」や
「通りに出て声を上げる」などの意味。）

元は「Survive」というタイトルにする予定だったそうですが、ロッキー・シリーズに登場する「アポロ」のセリフから「Eye Of The Tiger」に変更したそうです。
何年経ってもやる気をくれる一曲です。
