1999年にイギリスのソロ・ユニット、ジャミロクワイが発表した曲です。
イギリスのチャートで4位、アメリカのダンスクラブ・プレイ・チャートでは1位を記録。ツアーではなく、この曲を音楽番組で披露するためだけに来日してくれました。
当時、メンバーの突然の離脱によってこれまで作った曲を作り直す必要があったそうで、歌詞にはその心情が反映されています。

「trip」は「旅」などを意味し
同じ意味の「travel」が広い意味の「旅」を意味するのに対し

「get down」は「降りる」や「かがむ」の意味ですが
「踊る」や「羽目を外す」のスラングでもあります。）

（「nothing left」は「何も残っていない」の意味。
「nothing left for me to do but ～」で
「～する以外何も残っていない」や「～するしかない」
「～せざるを得ない」などの意味になります。
「Off」は「離れ」や「休む」などの意味。
「going through」は辛い状況などを「乗り越える」や
「経験する」「進める」などの意味。
タイトルでもある「canned heat／キャンド・ヒート」は
「缶入り燃料」のスラングだそうなので「燃料」と訳しました。）

曲作りに参加したボーカルのジェイ・ケイ曰く、「Canned Heat」には「爆発しそうなほど熱せられた缶」の意味もあるそうです。
